Writing has always been an important part of my life. I have written stories and kept journals since I was a child. Writing is therapeutic, a way for me to look back on my memories and smile (or cringe). I have a folder stuffed with poetry written while in high school and 3-ring binders full of stories from creative writing classes in college.

After college, I taught middle school math for five years (a very rewarding experience, something I never thought I’d do, but am so glad I did!). I have taught almost every grade from kindergarten-fifth. During that time, I kept on writing- those students of mine had my heart and kept me laughing.

In the meantime, I got married and had two children of my own. My kids say and do such funny things. Thank God I have a sense of humor, because sometimes it’s hard to know whether to laugh, cry or yell.

I have always wanted to write and publish a “real” book. Last year, I finally had the courage to pursue my dream. “Cami has Too Many Sweets” is about my daughter’s love of treats.  Cami went through a phase in which she would sneak treats almost daily. This book tells that story.

A good friend of mine suggested I turn my children into kangaroos (mischievous, cute and highly energetic) and I decided to make it a series: “Cami Kangaroo and Wyatt Too”. My daughter Cami will be the “star” of the first few books and then my son Wyatt will make his debut.

A big thank you to my husband Will for his constant love, encouragement and support. I could not have done any of this without him! He has always believed in me.

My first book is currently being illustrated. You can see sneak peeks and updates on my Instagram and Facebook pages. The book will launch sometime this spring! Sometimes I literally jump with joy, I am so excited (my kids jump along with me). I am just so grateful to have this opportunity to live my dream!
