The process · Stacy C. Bauer

I can not believe how much I’ve learned in the last 6 months. Last spring, when I first started looking into publishing a children’s book, I thought you had to find an agent and submit your manuscript to traditional publishers, then wait years until someone decided to publish you. After joining author Facebook groups, talking to published authors and reading a LOT of research, I learned that there is more than one way to publish. It was scary (and still is) at first. I knew nothing, I knew no one and I didn’t know where or how to start. There are so many talented people out there, it’s overwhelming. I was lucky to find an amazing editor and publisher (Rodney K Press) and I then spent months looking for an illustrator. I looked on Facebook, Pinterest, Etsy, Instagram and some online freelancer sites. After speaking to countless talented illustrators, I found Rebecca Sinclair and fell in love with her work. I have loved working with such a talented and professional illustrator and consider myself so lucky to have found her. She started working on the illustrations last fall. Since then I’ve been working on marketing for my book, some lesson plans to go with it and have even started writing the next book in my series! Below you can see pictures of some of the illustrations. I am so excited and can NOT wait for the book to be published this spring! Stay tuned for more updates and thank you for reading!
